and lively demonstration
Elva Robinson is a long-time resident of Fort Worth, and a self-taught artist. She has worked in various arts and crafts media for most of her life. Only within the past few years, in her fifties, has she made an attempt to define her artistic vision. She has combined her interests in photography, paper sculpture, and digital art to create what she refers to as "photosculpture."
Her process involves making multiple copies of a photograph, or a piece of digital art. She then cuts, shapes, and layers them to create a three-dimensional work of art. Sometimes the work will be realistic, with little digital manipulation of the original photograph. At other times, she creates a more abstract work that bears little resemblance to the photo. She also creates work that combines parts of two or three photos, or combines the photos with other media. All these approaches start with the same basic techniques, which is what she will be demonstrating. To see examples of her work, visit her website: www.robinsongimages.com.
Join us for an evening of fun and learn a new technique from a wonderful artist. TAG website: http://trinityartsguild.org/ Artist's website: Website: www.robinsongimages.com

Cyndi Barnes will demo concrete scupture and mosaic art at the DeSoto Art League meeting on Thursday, Oct. 27 at 7pm. Location:
DESOTO PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
212 W. PLEASANT RUN
DESOTO, TEXAS 75115
website: http://www.desotoartleague.com/
Cyndi Barnes writes: "I am a mosaic/concrete artist, mom of two (older kids, 17 & 21) and wife (my husband owns concrete material supplies companies). I have been an artist my entire life, but in the last 5 years I have specialized in mosaics and concrete art. I was very fortunate to find several mosaic artists in the Metroplex area to learn from. The Creative Arts Center in Dallas, was where I started my adventure in the world of mosaics.
I now specialize in mosaics on 3D forms that I build out of Styrofoam and concrete, then mosaic on top. I now can add, 'concrete artist too' since I have recently added carved concrete pieces to my specialty. My 3D pieces can be used inside or outside, depending on the wants and needs of the client. "

October Demo Artist
Kim Collins
Abstract in Acrylic & Mixed Media
Biography
Kim Collins was born in Biloxi, Mississippi but grew up in several different states, England and Germany. Her home is in Northeast Texas where she has lived since 1977. Primarily a self-taught artist, she has exhibited locally and won several awards. Kim was represented by Beaux- Arts Gallery in Grapevine, Mud, Wind & Fire Co-op and Gallery in Grapevine, Westwerks Gallery in Granbury, Stratford Green Gallery in Lewisville, and Artist’s Showplace in Richardson.
Artist’s Statement
My work has evolved over the years from realistic watercolors to fluid abstract de- signs in mixed media. The likely catalyst for this change was a bout with cancer which influenced many “re-thinking what’s important” moments. I realized I had been working with processes which were rigid, traditional and a bit tedious for me, but I was afraid to break out of the box. After the cancer scare, I allowed myself the freedom to have fun, try new things, get out of my comfort zone and play with design, color and materials. I have never looked back.
