BOX13 ArtSpace is currently accepting proposals for 2013/2014 for exhibitions in its two Downstairs Galleries, the Window BOX gallery, and the Upstairs Gallery. Artists and curators are invited to submit recent (or proposed) experimental works not previously shown in Houston.

It's December, and time to RENEW your TXWCA membership for 2013! Or join in!
Members, thank you for your membership and support in 2012 in supporting the Texas Women's Caucus for Art. This was an exciting and very special year as a new chapter and part of the National WCA organization that showcases women in the arts.
During this year the TXWCA launched the members online gallery, held a community art exhibition, held 3 member meets/ portfolio shares, held 2 Art Expertise Lectures, traveled to Houston for a private tour of Fotofest and connected with a wonderful group of women artists throughout Texas.
We look forward to another good year and have many exciting plans in the works for 2013. We will be continuing the portfolio critiques and art expertise lectures and plans for a juried gallery exhibition are underway, as well as other events throughout the year.
We need your support and membership to continue to build a stronger chapter and bring forth all these events planned for this upcoming year.

Call for Artists:
The Exhibition Advisory Panel (EAP) of the Fort Worth Community Arts Center (FWCAC) has extended the deadline to December 20, 2012 for exhibition proposals from artist and curators for all art forms, including new media, for its 2014 season.
The mission of the EAP is to exhibit contemporary art with a focus on regional artists in Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana. The EAP is interested in individual artist submissions of personal work. These submissions will be reviewed for use in EAP curated exhibits. The EAP is also interested in proposals for curated single artist or group exhibitions. Please note that curators may not be included in their own curated exhibitions. The exhibitions typically run for six weeks with one additional week for installation and one additional week for de-installation.
Artists submitting their work for exhibition consideration should include*:
1. Request for Exhibition form
2. Letter of intent describing proposal of exhibit
3. CV & Artist Statement
4. 10-20 jpg images of art works**
5. Image list including size & medium
6. $20 fee
7. Optional: Support materials, if available, including catalogs, exhibition reviews, etc. (4 max.)
8. Optional: Self addressed stamped envelope if you want materials returned
You will be contacted if your work has been selected for exhibition; artwork is reviewed on a bi-annual basis: June and December. Submissions received by the first of the month of the review will be reviewed that month. Images will be kept on file for a maximum of two years. Please feel free to update your submissions, as necessary.
*Incomplete submissions will not be considered.
**Digital images are accepted on CD in jpeg/jpg format only. Digital images should be labeled with the same title as on the required image list. Images should show a cohesive body of work directly related to the proposed exhibit.

Underground, 2013: This show will be presented on February 9th, 2013, from 8pm to 12am at South Side on Lamar in Dallas. The production team will be in the process of selecting visual artists for this event throughout 2012. All mediums are welcome(photography, painting, sculpting, jewelry, installation, illustration, welding, vinyl toys, body painting, etc.). Underground will have a gallery exhibit prior to the show (January 25th- February 9th [show date]). Artists who are selected are putting $40 and they keep 100% of sales from both the exhibit and the event. As always, all artists are creating live within the event.

ZAPP® (Zaplication.org) is a web utility used by an increasing number of arts organizations to manage entries for shows or booking festival booths for artists. ZAPP describes itself as "a one-stop universal online application system that allows artists to submit and manage applications for participating art shows, festivals, and fairs." Using ZAPP® is free to artists, but the organizations pay a fee.

For the artist, ZAPP® is a treasure trove of opportunities. Because the listings are so extensive, finding information can be a challenge. There are several ways to search:
- The Event Calendar, which shows calls on a calendar format by application deadline. Once you find an interesting possibility, you then go to the Participating Shows for more information.
- The Participating Shows listing, which displays brief information with dates and links (see example below):

Finding a particular show or shows in an area can be difficult, since there is no simple search feature. The Participating Shows can be sorted alphabetically by name, chronologically by application deadline or show start date, or geographically by region. The Texas shows describe themselves variously as "Central Region" or "South West Region" or even "South East Region". Region is not selectable, but is an alphabetical sort, so it is somewhat crude.
To do a simple search, select one of the ways to sort, then use the Search feature of the browser you are using. The command is usually Ctrl-F (for find) on most browsers. Type in what you're looking for: state name, city name, region, or event name.

Call for Artists - The 2012 Kessler Pumpkin Patch and Street Fair in Oak Cliff
The tenth annual Kessler Pumpkin Patch and Street Fair benefiting The Kessler School and Kessler Park United Methodist Church will be held in Oak Cliff on Saturday, October 6th from 10 am til 4 pm on the school and church lawn at 1215 Turner Ave. in Dallas.
It is a fun-filled day offering many fun activities, including carnival games, face painting, pony rides, bounce houses, a fall portrait station, an array of musical entertainment, a huge pumpkin patch, beautiful fall mums, delicious food from local vendors, as well as various artists and business vendors from the Oak Cliff area. This annual event draws a substantial number of people from the community and beyond. However, we are very eager and hopeful to increase our artist presence. Therefore, we are reaching out to ask more artists to join us by securing a booth, bringing your creative endeavors and increasing our artist participation. We guarantee it will be a fun day, and you should definitely see some traffic. We have had years when we have seen more that a thousand people attend this event. We are working hard to better promote the street fair portion of the event and are hopeful to draw more people who might not necessarily want to play, but who love art and love to shop.
We have the support of local artists Larry Pile, The Kessler Craftsman and Lugina Stanley of Blue Dream Glassworks, as well as Julie McCullough and everyone at Make & Made and Indie Genius. We hope to add many more names to that list.
The booth fee is $100.00 if you commit by September 28th, and increases to $125.00 after that date.

The City of Waxahachie will soon begin a public art program, in which local artists' works will be considered to be on display in the rotunda area of Waxahachie City Hall.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
The City of Waxahachie began a public art display program on July 1, 2012. With the program, art is displayed in the rotunda area of City Hall, for public and visitors to view. The program endeavors to provide an opportunity for local artists to show original works in a public forum.
Works displayed in City Hall will be chosen from the entries by a jury panel. The display will rotate every three months (quarterly). Each quarter, the jury panel will issue a "themed" call for art.
The City is currently accepting entries for the October - December 2012 show themed "TEXAS".
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Participating artists must:
Be 18 years of age and an Ellis County resident, OR enrolled as a student in any Ellis County School District, or attend any Ellis County private school or home school.
