Valeri Cranston Alcohol inks

Contemporary artist Valeri Cranston began her journey into art at the age of 7 in piano class. Bored with the lessons she began to draw on the sheet music. A call to her mother from her piano teacher soon got Valeri out of piano class and into an oil painting class. She immersed herself into all things art from that point forward.

Valeri graduated from the University of Tulsa in 1979 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and began working as a graphic artist and illustrator. After completing coursework for an Associate Degree in Applied Scienc- es she began working in the healthcare profession with critically ill babies and children at hospitals in Tulsa, Oklahoma and Dallas, Texas. After more than a decade working in hospitals, Valeri retired from her healthcare career and moved back into the art field through graphic arts and soon began painting again.

Moving from Fort Worth to Granbury, Texas with her husband Jeff in 2007, Valeri found a rich and varied art community which inspired her to dive back into painting. After managing a gallery on Granbury Square she retired and devoted her time to explore other mediums and painting styles in order to push her abilities further.

Valeri’s paintings are represented by Against the Grain Studio on Gran- bury Square where she also teaches Alcohol Ink classes.

TAG in the morning meets at 10 am. There is usually a supply fee.
