Plano Art Association presentation July 24: artist John Bramblitt

PAA Members’ Meeting and Presentation

Tuesday, July 24, 7:00 to 9:00at ArtCentre of Plano

In addition to our regular meeting agendas, there will be a special program for members and visitors.

This will be an exciting presentation by well-known and amazingly talented artist John Bramblitt, who is totally blind. John has developed the remarkable ability to literally “see” paint pigments through touch. His has an incredible story of inspiration every sighted artist needs to hear. And, his art is a demonstration of skill and finesse any sighted artist should envy. Imagine the subtleties required to paint a portrait, then imagine doing it without sight. Here is a link to a Tedx Talk by John that will make you understand why you should not miss this special  members’ meeting. Watch John’s TEDx Presentation. John’s work has been sold in over thirty countries all over the world and featured in hundreds of stories on TV, radio and newspapers including: The New York Times, The Washington Post, BBC, Discovery Channel and CNN.

A couple of amazing examples of John’s work: Above, a mural on a jetliner; below a mural on buildings in Dallas.

In addition to John’s presentation, you will be able to be an early viewer of the Kinsey Exhibit that will be installed just ahead of our meeting. The ArtCenter is hosting this very impressive exhibit that will be highly publicized and attended throughout the summer. The ArtCenter describes the exhibit as “a once in a lifetime exhibition: The Kinsey African American Art & History Collection – The Harlem Renaissance.” Learn more.

Light hors d’oeuvres and refreshments will be served.

The ArtCenter is located adjacent to Haggard Park in Downtown Plano, 902 East 16th Street, Plano, TX 75074.
