Nancy Boren demo Figure Study in Oil Nov. 3

American Women Artists Master Signature Member, Signature Member Outdoor Painters Society

Nancy Boren grew up in a home surrounded by paintings and drawings, welcome in the studio of her father Cowboy Artist of America member James Boren; she decided early on she also wanted a life in the arts. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Abilene Christian University and cites the influence of notable traditional painters such as Sargent, Sorolla and Fechin. She has exhibited at the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame, the Gilcrease Museum, and the Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Show at the National Arts Club, NY. Her paintings were used in the feature film 9 Months and the ABC TV show The Benefactor. She was one of five finalists in the state of Texas for the design of the Texas Quarter in 2004.

Boren’s paintings are included in:

  • Brushstrokes and Balladeers: Painters and Poets of the American West edited by C. J. Hadley, 2013
  • Texas Traditions by Michael Duty and Susan McGarry, Fresco Fine Art Publishing, 2010
  • The Painted Hills, A History of Art in Bosque County, TX by George Larson, Bosque Museum, 2009

Affiliations: American Impressionist Society, Oil Painters of America, Signature Member of the Outdoor Painters Society (Award of Excellence 2012), Master Signature Member of the American Women Artists (Gold Medal 2014)

We’re delighted and excited to have Nancy as our guest artist for November. Her demo will be a figure study in oil. You don’t want to miss an opportunity to watch this master painter in action!

Great Success at the 1st Art Walk in September during Ladies Night Out sponsored by Waxahachie Downtown Merchants! Reports of sales by some of the artists and a lot of interest by shoppers “strolling” the square. The Art Walk featured members of ECAA. The downtown businesses want to sponsor more Art Walks during the holiday shopping season in conjunction with the Ladies Night Out (every second Thursday). The next one is November 13, 5:00pm – 8:00pm.

Format: Bring an easel and a painting – you can also do a “live” demo. 3-D artists and alternative media are welcome to set up a small display such as potters, fiber artists, photographers, sculptors. We are looking to place at least 20 artisans throughout the downtown business district. Must be willing to set up & spend an evening in a downtown store. Opportunity to meet & greet local shoppers -If you sell, there’s no commission –
