Hello Camera Enthusiasts!
It is time to begin our fall 2016 Camera Club programs. I am excited to get together again with all of you again to share our passion for making great art! Our next meeting will be on Monday, September 19 at 6:30 p.m. at The Shanley House, Granbury. (One day earlier than our usual monthly meeting date.)
Join in the fun as we celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the National Park Service. We will sponsor a photo contest and also host a great teacher at our September meeting. Our theme is Photographing in the National & State Parks.
You are encouraged to enter your favorite Park photo in our Camera Club contest. We will award $100 in prizes! (100th anniversary!) Submit a favorite photo that was taken in a National or State Park in the last 2 years. If you absolutely were not able to venture outside of the immediate area, please submit a photo from an area park. We are looking for photos that help you tell an interesting story, exhibit an interesting way to capture a common scene, or display great skills and creativity in capturing a subject. Subject matter is open – landscapes, portraits, abstracts – whatever you desire. You may process the photos in whatever way you wish using the software, etc., of your choice.
Submit your .jpg format photo to firstname.lastname@example.org bySeptember 12.
Please include the following information:
Your name, Photo Subject, Place photo was taken, how you processed your photo.
Example: Phyllis Webster, Bison, Yellowstone National Park, workflow was Camera Raw and basic Photoshop.
If you would like to submit additional details about capturing or processing your photo, please do so. For example, “I had to shoot in low light with a long shutter speed.”
We will show the photos at our September meeting. If time allows, you may be asked to tell us a little about your photo experience. You must be present to win a prize. Membership in the LGAA is not required to win. There is no charge to enter.
However, we will as for a voluntary contribution the night of our meeting in order to give an honorarium to our speaker/judge.
Our judge and speaker is Les Lopez, professional photographer and instructor from Weatherford. He is very excited about this subject matter since he has traveled to, photographed and led workshops in locations such as Big Bend. He will share his tips on capturing National/State Park subjects and processing the photos.
This will be a great way to kick off the new year for the Granbury Camera Club (LGAA). Please send me your ideas for upcoming programs & speakers. And if you would like to take a leadership role in the club, you are most welcome — please volunteer!
Remember, we will meet Monday, September 19 at 6:30 p.m.at The Shanley instead of Sept. 20!
