Guest artist at the Tuesday, November 29th meeting of the Irving Art Association will be Gaylord O’Con. He will be demonstrating a street scene using his style of watercolor technique. Note: this month the meeting will be the 5th Tuesday, because of Thanksgiving.

About the Artist:
Gaylord O’Con, SWS, TxN, TWS
Gaylord is a Dallas, Texas based watercolor artist and is a signature member of the Southwestern Watercolor Society where he served as past president and is the current paint-out chairman. His watercolors depict sites of interest such as historic town squares, grain silos, city streets and trolley cars. He is interested in capturing a scene using darks and lights with glowing colors and reflective shadows. Gaylord has over 15 years’ experience painting with watercolors. His art is in private collections around the United States in corporate facilities and homes.
Gaylord’s awards include “Best of Show” and “Purchase Award” at the 48th Richardson Civic Art Society in 2014 and “2nd Place” for the 26th and 27th Texas and Neighbors shows in 2011 and 2012. Exhibitions include 2014 Korea, Japan, America Exhibition – Soule, Korea for painting “Hanging On” and 2013 Artist Show Place Exhibit “City Streets”. Gaylord’s art hangs in the “LAST” Art Gallery on the square in McKinney, TX. Commissions include paintings for the lobby of the Parker House Hotel in Boston, MA and “The Sainte Chapelle” – Paris France for the Bradford’s home. He has gained valuable knowledge while studying with Keiko Tanabe, Nel Dorn Byrd, Michael Borne and Alvaro Castagnet.
