From Today, Painting is Dead: Twenty Years of Promoting Photography – Presentation by Missy Finger of Photographs Do Not Bend Gallery – VAST May 2013 Meeting

Please join The Visual Arts Society of Texas at our May 2013 Meeting with guest speaker Missy Finger of Photographs Do Not Bend Gallery, on Thursday, May 2nd from 7:00 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Center for the Visual Arts, 400 East Hickory Street in Denton, TX. Free for VAST Members, $3 for guests.

Missy Finger and her husband Burt opened PDNB Gallery (Photographs Do Not Bend Gallery), in Dallas in 1995. PDNB is an art gallery specializing in photography and photo-based works from the 20th Century to present.

Before opening the gallery Missy and her husband, Burt Finger, were private dealers in antiques, including fine watches, collectibles, and fine art.

Collecting photography became a passion of both Burt and Missy, which resulted in the opening of PDNB gallery.

Missy has organized many group and solo exhibitions as well as a traveling exhibition.

She served as Programming Chair for the Dallas Museum of Art’s Friends of Photography In the mid-1990’s. The gallery has been a long-time member of AIPAD (Association of International Photography Art Dealers) since 1997. Missy currently serves on the Board of AIPAD. She has also participated in the FotoFest Biennial’s Meeting Place since the early 1990’s as a reviewer. The gallery is also a member of the Contemporary Art Dealers of Dallas (CADD).

Missy graduated 1982 from the University of Texas, Austin with a BBA.
