Walk the Light festival March 15

Walk the Light announces its arts festival on March 15, 2014.

(214) 536-1045Walk the Light, a non-profit arts organization in Dallas, announces its free arts festival, “Where Old Meets New”, on March 14, 2014 from 12pm-10pm. It will encompass the entire historic downtown area of Cedar Hill, TX off of Belt Line Rd. and Highway 67. The festival will include over 50 artists of a various genres, including performing arts, glass work, handmade jewelry, culinary arts, and more, as we honor Cedar Hill’s rich heritage and provide platform to local artistry. More event details, including the list of participating vendors and food trucks, can be found at www.walkthelight.org.All youth and their parents are invited to create, play and engage with free art activities programmed by the Zula B. Wylie Public Library from 12pm-6pm during the festival. Kids will work alongside of artists of all different mediums including music, paint, paper crafts and more, giving them an opportunity to play, explore, create and learn!

Der Lufthühlers, a group of vintage Volkswagen enthusiasts, will host a VW Car show during the festival, to culminate in an awards ceremony that evening.

The event will highlight local charities, including Bridges Safehouse, which provides temporary safe housing to pregnant homeless women and women in crisis and their children by providing shelter, resources, life-skills training, and mentoring.

This will be the 4th event we’ve produced partnership with the Main Street Preservation Board of Cedar Hill, as well as with city council members, city leaders and non-profit organizations.  Walk the Light is making the arts a vehicle for change through events that provide a platform for artists and engage the community to support local change efforts and charitable causes. We are partnering with the City of Cedar Hill to assist with their mission in revitalizing their historic downtown off of Belt Line Rd. and Highway 67.
