CELEBRATE AN EVENING OF ART, FASHION AND PHILANTHROPY AT TRANSCEND
Twenty artists come together to celebrate the life stories of 12 children cared for by Presbyterian Children’s Home and Services
What: Holly Voden Art will be hosting Transcend, an art, fashion, and philanthropy event located in The Janette Kennedy Gallery and South Side on Lamar Artists’ Quarter. This event will feature twenty artists who have come together to celebrate the life stories of twelve children cared for by Presbyterian Children’s Homes and Services. These stories of tragedy to hope will be represented using four different creative mediums: poems, paintings, fashion and editorial photography.
As a patron of Transcend, you can expect to enjoy a behind the scenes artist experience where the stories of twelve children will be transformed from words into visual representations through live hair and make up, live body painting, a live runway show and a live editorial photoshoot.
Each child’s individual story will be presented as an artistic collection created by collaborating artists. These collection will take you through the darkness to light, despair to hope, forgiveness and love that is the reality these children call life.
The show will take place on August 19 from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m., with an after party at Checkered Past Wine Pub. This unique event is a great way to experience impactful art while also bettering the lives of the children in our communities. About Janette Kennedy Gallery
The Janette Kennedy Gallery, formerly the South Side Gallery, was established in 2002 as a means for local artists, the Artist’s Residency Program, and the Community at large to exhibit their works. This Gallery differs from others in that it does not administer a fee for use of the space, nor has it charged a commission on the pieces an artist sells. Artists who have exhibited in the Gallery come from all disciplines and have included medias such as sculpture, ceramics, video, woodcuts, paintings, drawings, music, graphic art, found object and site specific installations from fine art to contemporary art.
