The Global Art & Ideas Nexus, an international consortium of educators and artists, announces the opening of a special art exhibit entitled “Toward the Light – Making Visible Our Inner Struggles” on Friday, April 24 from 6-9 p.m. in Theatre 166, 2425 Parker Rd., Carrollton TX 75010.
The exhibit brings together a selection of artwork that reflects the emerging genre of “Recovery Art. It focuses on the way in which art with skillful intent communicates the depth of life’s hidden traumas and private skirmishes as well as the new forms of spiritual insight and narratives of personal transformation arising from these struggles.
The show, featuring artists not only from the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex but also from Denver and Atlanta, highlights a variety of productions in different media as well as video pieces that will be projected on the big screen of Theatre 166
Exhibiting artists include Kartika Anderson, Sierra Barnes, Sandra Ceas, Aryn Dalton, Jenny DeLaughter, Wanda Grice, Pooran Lashini, Franklin Laws, MissiLou, Sunny Raschke, Ryan Schill, Elizabeth Schowachert, and Diane Wright.
The opening will be highlighted by a presentation by Naomi House, a women’s rehab and recovery center located in Ardmore, Oklahoma.
