About Kinked Mirror
Kinked Mirror Corp., an artist community and collective, champions and promotes its members’ artistic production. Formed for Black women, members create fashion, publications, films, collaborations and performances. Kinked Mirror Corp recognizes the multiple responsibilities of its members, the masks they are sometimes forced to wear, and the hostile environments in which they live and work. To counter these experiences Kinked Mirror Corp will aid the early development of new works through a collection fund established with annual membership dues.
About Janette Kennedy Gallery
The Janette Kennedy Gallery, formerly the South Side Gallery, was established in 2002 as a means for local artists, the Artist’s Residency Program, and the community at large to exhibit their works. This gallery differs from others in that it does not administer a fee for use of the space, nor has it charged a commission on the pieces an artist sells. Artists who have exhibited in the gallery come from all disciplines and have included medias such as sculpture, ceramics, video, woodcuts, paintings, drawings, music, graphic art, found object and site-specific installations from fine art to contemporary art. For more information, visit the Janette Kennedy Gallery Facebook page.
