The Dallas Festival of Ideas Feb. 28-28

The inaugural For the City: The Dallas Festival of Ideas, presented by The Dallas Institute of Humanities and Culture in partnership with The Dallas Morning News, will take place February 27-28, 2015, at venues across the Dallas Arts District. Produced in part by CrowdSource.

IMAGINE a festival that transforms and entertains; that unveils the next big idea; that challenges people to think about how Dallas can attract and keep its creative talent; that inspires its citizens to be a part of building the city of the future.

For two days in February 2015, the Dallas Festival of Ideas will bring together youth and experience, national figures and local leaders, entrepreneurs and poets, dancers and painters, food trucks and restaurants, cultural groups and change organizations to consider the future of life in Dallas. Questions will be asked, ideas will be shared, and answers will be discovered. What does the future look like for our city: The Physical City, The Cultural City, The Innovative City, The Political City, and The Educated City?

National keynote speakers Vishaan Chakrabarti, Ta-Nehisi Coates, Elizabeth Green, Rahaf Harfoush, and Luis Alberto Urrea will join fresh local leaders from diverse backgrounds and areas of expertise to help focus the power of ideas on shaping Dallas’ future.

The goal is to ignite a passion for our city, to energize our citizens through an exchange of ideas, and to create the opportunity for change by shaping the future of Dallas from within.
