Roberta Mallard, Impressionist, offers her interpretation of natural beauty, history and the human condition in her landscapes, figuratives, animals and portraits. Working in oil and acrylic, Roberta uses high color to communicate her perceptions and feelings as closely as possible to the viewer. Her years as a professional photographer and her darkroom work increased her abilities in contrast, composition and color, leading to her transition to painting in 2006.
“My work is about the beauty of our country. The scenery of the United States, the desert, its plants and animals as well as early Native American dwellings, express my love of intense color, life and history.”
Awards and distinctions include Honorable Mention in the International Kodak Awards and the portrait of Jay Burkett installed in the Old Post Office Museum, Graham, TX. In addition to previous awards and shows, in 2016, her work was accepted to Old Post Office Museum and Art Center Annual Fine Art Juried Competition. Recent publications include “Art of Texas,” Southwest Art, March 2016, “Women in Art,” Southwest Art, August 2016 and “Ones to Collect,” Southwest Art, October 2016.
