Patricia Rodriguez: The Roots Remain at Mountain View’s Oak Cliff Gallery

Rodriguez The Roots Remain

The Cliff Gallery at Mountain View College is commencing the 2016-2017 school year with a highly anticipated exhibition from visual artist, Patricia Rodriguez. The Roots Remain is a collection of Rodriguez’s work from over the past six years.

Rodriguez’s paintings invite the viewer to connect with nature and explore our personal relationships to it. Vines, leaves, tree trunks, and even human organs radiate off the canvas, color saturated and bright. The forms create a rhythm that is both alluring and spontaneous. Each painting lures the viewer closer in a quest to follow the movement of each vine as it dances and intertwines with another.

An Oak Cliff native, Patricia Rodriguez is a freelance artist, graphic designer, and muralist with a background in visual arts and music. She is an alumna of the Art Department at Mountain View College and has worked as an artist for over 18 years. Her painting, “Between Dreams,” was recently selected and displayed in Landscapes: A Sense of Place exhibition at the Brooklyn Gallery in New York City.

The Roots Remain opens on Monday, August 29th and will be on display until Friday, September 23rd. A closing reception will be held on Friday, September 23rd from 7 p.m.–9:30 p.m. The Cliff Gallery is located at 4849 West Illinois Avenue in room W136. Its hours of operations are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m.–4 p.m. For more information about The Roots Remain and other gallery programming, please contact Tori Phillips, Gallery Coordinator, at 214-860-3649.
