4 Year Anniversary Block Party
Saturday August 9, 2014 3pm – 9pm

Join us on Saturday August 9, 2014 from 3p – 9p as we celebrate 4 years of cultural arts programs on Jefferson Blvd. We close down the 200 block of Jefferson at 3 PMand fill the boulevard with live performances, local art and food vendors, visual art workshops, dance classes, DJ’s, and more!

The event will kick off with 106.1 Kiss FM Club Kiss DJ’s Latin House Krew followed by an afternoon of celebration on the street. OC3 resident companies Alegre Ballet Folklorico and Cuicani In Xochitl will perform traditional dance from their company repertoire. FREE DANCE CLASSES from Joseph Lopez teaching Mambo and Bachata steps and JuNene Harris will show us the latest in Line Dance. Catch performances from the students of the Cara Mia Theatre Co’s School of YES summer camp and La Rondalla after-school guitar class. Bring your poem and get on the list for Verse and Rhythm’s open mic session. Bring a lawn chair and relax to live music with jazz and percussions with Len Barnett and rock out with local Spanish rock band El Horfanato De Los Duendes.

Vendor booths will be set up along Jefferson Blvd. with local food, arts, crafts, information, give-a-ways and activities. The OC3 gallery will be open for you to check out the latest exhibit Draped Up and Dripped Out, an exhibit of contemporary Houston artists. There will also be a bouncy house, face painting and other fun FREE family activities.

The Oak Cliff Cultural Center is a division of the City of Dallas Office of Cultural Affairs. The center is dedicated to fostering the growth, development and quality of multi-cultural arts within the City of Dallas. The center emphasizes innovating visual and performing arts as well as other multi-discipline events throughout the year.

The Oak Cliff Cultural Center is located at 223 W. Jefferson Boulevard, Dallas, Texas 75208.
