Liliana Bloch Gallery is pleased to announce a new exhibition entitled FACES featuring the works of Alicia Henry.
Opening Reception: Saturday, October 18th from 6 to 8 p.m.
Exhibition dates: October 8th- November 18th
Faces explores isolation and interaction, a common recurring idea in her work. Henry is interested in the complexities and the contradictions surrounding familial relationships as well as societal differences and how these variations affect individual and group responses to themes of Beauty, the Body, and Identity. Her current work explores these ideas, addressing the process through which groups (specifically female) navigate these issues.
Alicia Henry has a B.F.A from the Art Institute of Chicago, attended Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, and received a M.F.A degree from Yale University School of Art. She is a recipient of a Joan Mitchell Painter and Sculptor Grant, a Guggenheim Fellowship, and a Ford Foundation Fellowship, among others. She has exhibited at numerous institutions, for example, the Frist Center for the Visual Arts, Carnegie Museum at Pittsburgh, Hunter Museum of American Art,and the Whitney Museum in New York. She lives and works in Tennessee.
