A conversation and closing party: Sunday, December 4 at 3 pm
Haley-Henman Gallery proudly announces the solo exhibition of new paintings and drawings by Midge Lynn. The opening reception on Saturday, November 5 will also include performing artists Linda Coleman, James Kille and Ann Marie Newman. The reception is free and open to the public of all ages.
Midge Lynn chose the title, Synecdoche because her process of capturing a particular moment in the life of the model expresses insight into their whole being. She sets her portraits in everyday moments. For this, she captures her unassuming models by photography, which she then processes into drawings and paintings. It is the transition from photography to drawing and painting that her creative intuition melds psychology and symbolism. In these new paintings she uses the motif of pattern, a reference to Konrad Lueg (1963-68), to illustrate the larger social systems of her subjects.
