May and June Events of the Visual Art League of Lewisville‏


ATCspring festivalThe following programs are free of charge and open to the public:  On Saturday, May 9th from 1:30-4:30 in room #3 of the MCL Grand, there will be another ATC Workshop.  This months suggested theme is “Spring Festival”.

On Tuesday, May 12th at 7:00 P.M., our guest speaker will be Trevor Kobrin.  He will speak on photography.  His photographs have appeared in international publications including Elle, Marie Claire, Schweizer Illustrierte, Style, Readers Digest and other major South African magazines.  Visit his website at


Opening reception for the Jordan Grimes Exhibit, Fresh Ideas 2014 winner, will be held at 7:00 P.M. on May 9th at the MCL Grand Gallery.  Also on exhibit will be the VAL members’ exhibit, Black & White Landscapes.  This show will run through June 20th.  The MCL Grand is located at 100 Charles Street in Lewisville.

On exhibit in the North Wing of the MCL Grand is the Graffiti/Street Art show.  This show runs April 4th through May 30th. America de Beautiful exhibit will be in the North Wing of the MCL Grand.  The exhibit runs from June 6th-August 8th.


Fresh Ideas 2015 opening will take place on June 27th from 7-9 in the MCL Grand Gallery.  This exhibit is open to the public and there is no charge.

This year, VAL is providing judges for the Chalk This Way Art Festival.  This is also a free event which is open to the public. This takes place on May 9th in Lewisville.

Exhibiting their artwork in Tierney’s Café & Tavern through June 28th is Barbara Barnett, Mary McNeely and Wanda Grice. Exhibiting in the Commercial Bank of Lewisville for the month of May is R’Lene Winters.

We want to thank Tina Alvarez, Barbara Barnett, Maurice Leatherbury, R.Dave McRedmond, Dulce Ruque, R’Lene Winters and Diane Wright for their donation of art/photography for the silent auction that was held recently by ALSAC (Associates of the Lewisville Senior Activity Center) for the benefit of the senior center.
