MAC Show Draws Record Attendance

Record crowds turned out the opening of The MAC’s 2013 Membership Exhibit in Dallas last Saturday evening. IAA member, Liz Bogard (left), and professional artist and art instructor, Maureen Brouillette (right), found it hard to talk above the noise of patrons and artists.

Attendees inspected more than 230 varied artistic creations with a common theme, Delta, while drinking the infamous Blue Punch and munching on assorted goodies served up by sponsors.

One of the most unusual pieces was Joel Sampson’s “Blinke at Work”, a construction composed of a plate vise, oak and electronics. Beside Joel’s artwork is “Mr. Deltoid” by Jeanne Yanigan, a construction of red and blue Altoid boxes. Liz Bogard contributed a mixed media piece, “Delta Model”. Hanging close by was Jennifer Leigh Jones’ “Coconuts and Bluebonnets”, oil and pastel on MDF. Mr. Sampson currently shows at Conduit Gallery and Ms. Jones at Cohn Drennan Contemporary in Dallas.

The exhibition continues through August 31. The MAC is located at 3120 McKinney in Dallas.
