Jason Mehl // Solo Exhibit // Opening Reception // September 13

Originally from Dallas, artist Jason Mehl has spent the better part of a decade exploring the world while creating art. After living in South Korea for five years making art, Mehl closed his Seoul studio and returned home to Dallas in 2013. His current solo exhibition “Remnants” is his second, and without question his most profound show since his return to Dallas a year ago.

“Remnants” will display what Jason has become known for; his ambiguous, composite forms based on the intuitive geometry of nature. This exhibit augments his previous body of bronze sculptures, increasing his scope with a variety of media including wood, stoneware, and cast glass. Many pieces in this exhibition are held within the charred remains of wooden structures, adding a tension between the organic forms and the geometric constructions of man. This show seeks to reconnect people with an environment that is becoming increasingly distant due to the confines of manufactured spaces and schedules.
