“It’s a Small World” Winners at Dutch Art

And The Winners Are…

We accepted 71 paintings from 28 artists. Five of them were new to our Gallery. Many veterans returning as well as past winners. Besides the mediums to be used and the size requirements we have other criteria that goes along when we are judging.

Such as interpretation and the clarity of the work to the viewer. Creativity and originality of the work. Quality of artistic composition and overall design of the artwork. AND Overall impression of the artwork. I couldn’t do this alone. So we invited two additional judges, Ellie Taylor and Steve Hahn. They both have different styles and a large inventory in our showroom. Each shared their thoughts about this year’s crop of work that entered as well as their artistic journeys.

Thank you for joining us in celebration of our “It’s A Small World Juried Art Exhibition”.The call-for-entry was simply to produce the best small-scale art. Miniature art is most often extremely detailed work, exquisite in color with a strength of composition which can compete with larger paintings. It was an open invitation to submit an original entry in oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, charcoal and/or mixed media. Out of 71 paintings there could only be three top winners.

Mmmm good, this was my quickest painting ever, because my husband was hovering nearby, tapping his foot, waiting to consume the model.

Dog Days By Gwen Bell

2nd Place Winner: Dog Days By Gwen Bell

Greyhounds are the “Super Models” of the dog world. I love their long legs and graceful poses.

Afternoon Delight By Kay Wyne

3rd Place Winner: Afternoon Delight By Kay Wyne

Original Oil on Panel
12×12 Unframed
Afternoon Delight is full of color and texture. I wanted the viewer to look at the painting and see the color changes on the landscape. The colors are bold and vivid in the foreground, gradually changing as you look at the horizon.

An Evening Out By Donna Weber

The People’s Choice Award Winner:
An Evening Out By Donna Weber

Original Oil on Canvas
6×6 Unframed
An Evening Out captures a quiet moment in a cigar lounge of young women enjoying her time and listening to a guitar player. I was taken by the elegance of the moment.
