Paula’s DBA, “Touching Hearts With Art”, is a name derived from the profound effect of art on the individual.

With a love of art that goes back to her childhood, she finds inspiration in many places.  Her favorite subjects range from a field of bluebonnets, to butterflies and hummingbirds, to zoo animals and portraits, to bridges and barns. “I cannot pick a favorite”, she says. “Once a person is exposed to the creativity of art and is awakened to its visual qualities, they are not the same person.  Art can ignite our imaginations, calm our minds, and enhance our relationships.  The amazing symmetry of flowers, the gracefulness of trees, the charm of children, the beauty of landscapes, the enchantment of animals, and the delight that clouds and sunsets seem to give our spirit are just some of the things that inspire me as I draw and paint,”  Paula says.

Paula’s first love has been teaching children at a Montessori school, home-school and after school classes.

Her art is described as realistic, with a touch of abstract.  Her art is the discovery and the excitement of how shadow and value awaken the eye to the shape and perspective of a work done in charcoal, graphite and in paint.

Paula’s memberships include the Trinity Arts Council; P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Sorority), Plein Aire Friday Group, Grapevine Art Project,P.A.I.N.T (Professional Artists In North Texas).   Her work has won awards in Juried Shows.

Irma Ward

“Understanding the technical aspects of painting enables me to appreciate the work of others and to be more creative in my own work.  I like choosing a subject to paint, be it a landscape or still life, that has an emotional ‘catch.’ I especially like painting portraits because it gives me a sense of purpose to honor a person in a painting.  Color, too, is an important factor in my work.  What inspired me to be an artist was when I realized what a positive impact color had on my emotions.  I particularly like subjects with bright colors.”

For many years self taught, Irma pursued a more formal path with her artwork through college level classes.  Over time, Irma earned certification as a Fine Art Instructor from the Liliedahl School of Traditional Oil Painting and now teaches and paints full time.  She is on the Executive Board of the Trinity Arts Guild and is a member of the Portrait Society of America (PSA), Oil Painters of America (OPA), Outdoor Painter Society (OPS), Professional Artists in North Texas (PAINT), Texas Artists Coalition (TAC), Irving Art Association (IAA), Grapevine Art Project (GAP), and the Arlington Visual Artists Association (AVAA).  Irma’s art has won awards in several juried competitions and was juried to show in several other events.  Irma’s work has also been shown at local galleries and other art venues in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.  Irma has participated in more than 50 art shows and exhibitions over the past five years.
