ESTHER RITZ at modartists gallery

Every Kinda People
December 13 – January 20, 2015
mod.artists gallery is excited to announce the opening of “Every Kinda People: paintings by Esther Ritz” as their first solo exhibition. The show will open on December 13th from 10am – 8pm with an artist’s talk at 3pm. An opening reception will be held from 5pm – 8pm. The exhibition will continue through January 20th.
Esther Ritz’s career began at a young age in her hometown of New York City. Her early experiments with color and first trip to Greenwich Village to buy art supplies started her on the path that has brought her to this debut of new work from her time at an artist’s workshop in Molokai, Hawaii. The workshop’s  emphasis on working in total silence and following pure impulse has resulted in a fascinating series of paintings that express the artist’s “inner emotions, ideas, fears and dreams” in the hope of “explor(ing) the inner mystery that always tries to hide and evade the consciousness.”
The process of creating this series is difficult for the artist to put into words as all of the compositions are made by dedicated action and fearless confidence of expression. Esther Ritz’s paintings for this show are a powerful demonstration of subconscious impulse that is both playful and sinister with a kinetic sense of pattern and color that
can leave you breathless in its presence.
Esther Ritz has worked as an abstract painter and contemporary artist in Dallas and Santa Fe for the last fifteen years. She has studied at intensive workshops with French and American master painters. In 2010 her work was juried and selected to be in the national magazine, Studio Visit. Esther was recently awarded Best in Show by the Texas Visual Artists Association in 2013. “I like to let the freedom, play, emotion, and energy of the moment take over and guide each work of art. This demands I pay attention, stay in the moment, and enter into a new relationship. Each painting becomes an absorbing mystery, with its unique possibilities, expectations, frustrations, and surprises.”
