Dallas Zine Party: Workshop Sept. 5 and Fair Sept. 6

Join DALLAS ZINE PARTY for it’s first ever zine fair and celebration of zines and DIY/independent publications on September 6, 2015 at The Wild Detectives in Dallas, TX from 1-5pm

What is a zine? it’s a magazine; especially a noncommercial often homemade or online publication usually devoted to specialized and often unconventional subjects. Subgenres: art zines, fanzines, poetry zines.

The Fine Arts Division of the J. Erik Jonsson Central Library is proudly hosting Dallas Zine Party Panel and Workshop. This program supports the Fine Arts Division’s new and growing zine collection and is in conjunction with Dallas Zine Party at The Wild Detectives on September 6th. The panel includes artist and educator Randy Guthmiller of SHAPE Zines, Anastasia (Stacy) Kirages of the art zine Modernizm and organizer of Houston Zine Fest, David LaBounty, editor and publisher of Workers Write! and The First Line, Houston based artist Sarah Welch of Mystic Multiples and current resident at UT Dallas’ Centraltrak, and Sandra Davalos of the global humanitarian music label and publishing house, Cemetery Sisters.

There will also be a contemporary zine exhibition on view from artist and zine collector, Michael Wynne’s personal collection. Wynne has been collecting zines for decades. The exhibition will run through September 26th.
