Greenway Parks Residence

Frank Welch and Associates

Architect Frank Welch designed this modern residence with traditional touches to harmoniously reside in the beautiful neighborhood of Greenway Parks. As requested by the owners, the architecture of the home is clean with straight lines to create a simple canvas for its art and furnishings. Rift-cut white oak was used for all doors, cabinets, and the front sculptural staircase that reflects the owner’s sensibilities. The wood floors are defined by a dark finish termed “Crude Oil” by Welch. The interiors feature beautiful contemporary furnishings and fabrics. Natural and neutral finishes create a backdrop for the client’s prominent art collection, which brings pops of color to the rooms. The floating back staircase is fabricated with cork inset into oak stained steps. Intimate nooks were created for the family’s treasured library of books, as well as for entertaining. A generous kitchen area serves as a gathering place for the family and their guests, who enjoy the clean, contemporary and comfortable design of the home.

Malone Cliff View Residence

Booziotis & Company Architects

Malone Cliff View provides a Dallas philanthropist a contemporary aerie with spectacular views overlooking the Trinity River corridor and downtown Dallas. Located on a west Dallas escarpment, the concrete structure rises three stories. The design creates a non-rectilinear building that affords views to the city from all the major spaces. These interlocking areas provide a place for intimate gatherings while still accommodating large parties. Four structural concrete pylons hold the bulk of the small secondary functions while supporting the three primary living zones. Each living zone is capped with a hyperbolic paraboloid shaped concrete roof plane cantilevering out to the north. Clad in stone, the building has a sense of permanence, while significant areas of glass provide amazing views to the north and east. A dramatic circular staircase connects the various living areas on the three floors of the residence.

Meaders Residence

Bernbaum / Magadini Architects

Meaders Residence emphasizes distinctive natural elements valued in North Texas. Sixteen large live oaks and the site’s natural beauty have been preserved, and the hardscape includes several stone terraces. Water features include a koi pond that hugs the cantilevered foundation pool court.  Large stone walls frame custom fabricated oversized steel-framed windows that admit natural light to enhance the indoor-outdoor connection. Ceiling heights from nine to nearly twelve feet emphasize an open feeling. Lueders roughback limestone walls along with cabinets, flooring and trim fabricated from rift-cut white oak create a light palette for the interiors. Art and selected furnishings provide accents of stronger color. Interior furnishings are primarily modern, and the owners’ sculpture, painting and photography collections are prominently displayed. The kitchen includes two islands clad in Carrera marble along with an oversized range and other state-of-the-art appliances. The main residence and pool cabana share the site with an extended backyard forming a modern, comfortable and timeless design.
