The 13th Annual Cedars Open Studios Tour is Saturday, November 21, 2015, from 12:00–6:00 pm. The Cedars, Dallas Artists’ District, is home to a diverse group of artists who will open their studios to the public with live demonstrations including glass blowing, metal sculpting, painting, immersive children’s art activities, live music, and a special fire hoop performance. Come experience this creative, evolving neighborhood, a rich contributor to the history of Dallas, and one of the original artists’ districts of the city. Attendees will meet noted artists of the Cedars, including mixed-media artist Joshua King, painter/metal sculptor Tony Collins, glass artists Jim and Mary Lynn Bowman, steel artist Albert Scherbarth, and wood worker/sculptor Jeff Hogan among many others.
Several transportation options are available for attendees including a bike cycle tour led by Bike Friendly Cedar’s, pedicabs provided by Transit Tricycle, and Uber, all of which are easily accessible from the Cedar’s Dart Rail Station.
A favorite family tradition is the sunset performance art piece titled “Decorating the Tree” at Bowman Glass, a work in steel and molten glass. Following the official end of the event, patrons are welcome to attend several after party events, including a live concert and performance art event at American Beauty Mill.
