CADD Announces 2017 Scholarship Winner! Taylor Jenkins

Contemporary Art Dealers of Dallas is proud to present the 2017 CADD Scholarship to TAYLOR JENKINS, a dedicated young artist and graduating senior from Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in Dallas, Texas.
Taylor was accepted into multiple university art schools and will attend the University of Michigan’s Penny W. Stamps School of Art and Design in the fall.

Artist Statement – When beginning a piece, I think about color, pattern, and texture immediately. I find inspiration in nature and the unexpected object around me. Heavy patterns found in fabric and wallpaper is evident throughout my work whether drawn or sculpted. These abstract concepts are incorporated into my art in an overt or passive manner. I enjoy challenging myself when it comes to mixing media, colors and textiles. Searching for beauty in abstraction, whether geometric or organic, makes me focus on my own interpretations. Different methodology and tools are dependent on what kind of project I am working on. I believe finding a way to incorporate multiple techniques into a single project makes a piece more interesting and gives it dimension. The artistic expression is a constant process for me because I continue to develop my ideas and vision for the finished product as I work.
