“VINTAGE ARTS BROUGHT BACK TO LIFE”
Denison, Texas – IT IS THAT TIME AGAIN AND THE EXCITEMENT IS BUILDING……The Fourth Annual Blackland Prairie Artisan and Fibre Faire will take place at Texoma Exposition and Livestock Show Grounds at Loy Lake Park on October 17 and 18, 2015.
This festival is an annual event that brings together artists from Texas and surrounding states to sell their creations and the tools of their trade in a festival atmosphere. In addition to shopping, attendees will be treated to free demonstrations by skilled artisans in what are considered by many to be “lost arts” such as spinning, weaving, rug-hooking, soap-making, wood carving, indigo dying, silk reeling and more. The event is designed to engage the community. Over 35+ artisans (returning favorites and new ones) will be offering their products including baskets, pottery, textiles, carvings, and jewelry.
In addition, musical entertainment will be provided by Bud Rager (the “Singing Son of Gun”), Stacey Whitson and the band, Not Together. The Faire will have a designated location for the public to drop off knitted/crocheted items such as hats and scarves that will be donated to The Grayson County Shelter.
The festival and all demonstrations are free. It is put on annually by the Blackland Prairie Artisan and Fibre Faire Committee, a group of experienced business owners, farmers, and fiber artists who share the common goal of promoting the arts in North Texas, and who have a wide range of experience and expertise in all areas of fiber production and use.
