2018 Plano Plein Air Event Feb. 16 & 17

Plano Art Association, in conjunction with The Outdoor Painters Society, Southwest Watercolor Society and ArtCentre of Plano, will be conducting an exciting two-day plein air event in Downtown Plano and nearby areas.

Up to 100 artists are expected to participate from all over North Texas. The artists will focus on the interesting subject matter of the Historic Downtown area and the Heritage Farmstead venue.
They will register on Friday, February 16, at the ArtCentre of Plano. From there, they will fan out and choose a spot with an interesting local subject and begin painting. The artists will choose their own media including oil, watercolor, pastels and various dry drawing materials. On Friday evening, the works of the day will be brought to the ArtCentre with works from Saturday to be added for an artistic “show and tell.”On Saturday, the same procedure will be followed, culminating with a gathering at the ArtCentre where a judge will select works for a month-long ArtCentre exhibition. Cash prizes will be awarded the winning entries at a reception on Saturday, February 24.

Participation as a painter in the event is limited to members of Plano Art Association, Outdoor Painters Society and Southwest Watercolor Society. Those wishing to participate and are not members of one of these organizations can easily join Plano Art Association on the organization’s website: www.planoartassociaton.org.

The reception will be open to the public on Saturday afternoon, February 24 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the ArtCentre of Plano,  902 E 16th Street Plano, TX 75074.
