The Visual Arts Society of Texas (VAST) 10th Annual 125-Mile Visual Arts Exhibition will open on January 15 with a reception from 5:30 – 7:30 in the Gough Gallery at the Patterson-Appleton Arts Center, 400 E. Hickory, Denton, TX., and will run through February 21.
The 125-Mile Exhibition was initiated in 2006 to establish a regional, high-quality juried art exhibition for artists living within a 125-mile radius of Denton, TX, to compete and show their work.
This regional exhibition features 30 pieces of art from artists within a 125 mile radius of Denton. They were selected by Dr. John Marcucci from 155 entries. The media is diverse with a range of 2D and 3D work.
Of the 30 exhibition artists, 15 are members of VAST. They are: David Blow (Hickory Creek), Deborah Boschert (Lewisville), Darla Bostick (Denton), Nel dorn Byrd (Aubrey), Gail Cope (Farmers Branch), Kathy Elliott (Garland), Angelia Ford (Lake Dallas), Lori Garner (Argyle), Tonya Littmann (Denton), Lori Maclean (Duncanville),Tesa Morin (Denton), Heather Pregger (Fort Worth), Kenna Prior (Denton), Laurie Weller (Denton), and Deanna Wood (Denton).
Dr. John Marcucci is the Director and President of Haley-Henman Gallery LLC, providing contemporary fine art services since 2007. Under his leadership, the gallery focuses on emerging and experienced regional artists of different media, celebrating multicultural diversity and promoting dialogue among artists and collectors.
Dr. Marcucci is also a painter and sculptor, with the notable distinction of having a work in the collection of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts.
Since 2008, Dr. Marcucci has served as the Juror for multiple regional and state competitions. He currently directs Gallery 422 and other art spaces in the Dallas area. He also serves as an Advisory Board Member for the Dallas Creative Arts Center.
The exhibition and opening reception are free and open to the public.
