Kerr Arts & Cultural Center’s 2015 Youth Art Camp will feature two sessions; July 13th – 17th, and July 20th – 24th. Classes are open to children ages 6 – 14.
Students who are 8 years old and up select their daily project from several options. All classes will be kept small to facilitate individualized instruction. Each session will run from 9 am – Noon. Participants will learn hands-on, working with qualified adult artist-instructors in a wide variety of genres including Painting, Dance, Fiber Arts, Theater, Sculpture, Crafts, Woodworking, Cooking and more.
Students can attend all 5 days per session for a $75 fee, or can select “a la carte” at $18 per class. Students may also choose to attend both full-week sessions for $150. Scholarships are available – please contact KACC for information.
July will also see the annual Hometown Crafts Teachers Show. KACC is putting out a call for entries to artist/educators of all kinds – active or retired, any level or grade, from public or private schools, and even those who serve as tutors. Hometown Crafts, is a big fan of teachers and wants to give them a chance to display their creative, artistic side. KACC Executive Director, Debbie Minns commented, “Few other groups of people work harder or with more dedication than our teachers, and this show is our way of giving back to these people who dedicate their lives to inspiring our young people. We sincerely appreciate the ongoing sponsorship of these shows by Hometown Crafts!”
In addition to the Youth Art Camp and Hometown Crafts Teachers Show, July will also feature the American Plains Artists Award show, with paintings by Patsy Lindamood and sculpture by Jammey Huggins, and the 2GypsyZ Art Show, a display of expressionist works by Marcy Dorman and Jeanie Williamson.
