Diane Coble is an award winning local artist who moved to southern Arizona after her retirement in northwest Washington state. She is a self taught artist and from a young age threw herself into any project that involved any kind of color, design, drawing and painting. Through her business, part of which involved a boutique, she had her own “silk clothing” line in which she used silk dyes on bolts of silk, then made a line of clothing, which she sold wholesale at apparel shows in Seattle, San Francisco, LA and Hawaii. Each piece was personally designed, dyed and cut to order and was a unique piece. Having seen how the dyes flowed together and the wonderful blending of color, sparked her interest in putting that on a canvas.
She joined the Santa Rita Art League in 2013 and has worked in pen and ink, watercolor, pastels, colored pencil, acrylics and her latest and favorite medium is alcohol ink on Yupo. She has always liked to try “something new.” Working with the and blending of the beautiful inks is a creative challenge and well worth the effort because of all the effects that the inks will create. Diane also teaches workshops on “Doodling,” a fairly new art form that is taking doodling to a new level of creative and inspiring works of art. In October of 2016, she and her husband moved to Granary, TX. She joined the Lake Granbury Art Association in December and is actively involved with the group.
