National Day of the American Cowboy

Join Randy Ziegler on Saturday, July 26 at the historic Fort Worth Stockyards to celebrate the National Day of the American Cowboy.  This annual event has been named by American Cowboy magazine as, “The best event of its kind in the nation.”  This day is set aside to honor past and current cowboys and cowgirls who uphold the great pioneering spirit and freedom that made America great.

We will begin our photographic foray at 10:00 a.m. at the Fort Worth Stockyards.  There will be opportunities to photograph gestures of cowboys and cowgirls dressed in western attire and maybe even the chance to capture a backlit spur, dusty cowboy boots, or the texture of well-worn chaps; the possibilities are endless.   Of course, an event of this size will provide the street shooter with plenty of “behind the scenes” images of people mingling, partaking in activities, or just enjoying a moment of relaxation.

After lunch at the Stockyards, we will head back to Granbury where you will edit and present your best images of the day to the class.  Randy will provide a photo critique of each photographer’s work at this time, as well as answer your photographic related questions.   Then it’s time for a “little cowboy and cowgirl relaxation” with some tasty western appetizers and refreshments.

Workshop requirements:  Photographers must possess a basic understanding of their cameras modes and settings, and be able to edit their images on a lap top computer.
