Legacies II July 19 – 26: conference on lettering & arts

Legacies, the 33rd International Lettering Arts Conference will be held at the
Renaissance Dallas Richardson Hotel and the Charles W. Eisemann Center for Performing Arts.

WHAT’S “LETTERING ARTS”?
The Lettering Arts encompasses the multi-faceted world of calligraphy which includes:

  • Learning how to write in various calligraphic styles like Black Letter, Copperplate,
  • Italic, Neuland, Uncial, and Roman Capitals to name just a few.
  • Handwriting, drawing and mixed media art
  • Creating expressive marks
  • Computer skills and techniques specific to lettering

CALLIGRAPHY RELATED SUBJECTS INCLUDE:

  • Working with trade tools (including the computer)
  • Graphic design
  • Book and journal construction
  • Painting with nibs and brushes while using mediums like gouache, ink, gold leaf, watercolor and
  • acrylic on various surfaces such as paper, canvas, fabric and vellum.
