Class Description:  Explore art quilting by hand with Leisa Rich. Create a unique design from simple sketches (no drawing skills required!) and apply basic adhering techniques and stitches you will learn in the workshop to realize your vision. Working on a solid felt base, you’ll use a quilting adhesive to make your design stick! You’ll then add texture and visual interest by using a variety of mixed media fabrics and embroidery stitches to enhance your quilt. Plan to leave the workshop with a finished block 10” X 10” and armed with lots of ideas and skills to apply to projects at home!

The workshop will kick off with a visit with Leisa to the amazing exhibition Wash & Wax: A Collaboration in the Irving Arts Center’s Focus Gallery, and experience for yourself how car wash photos inspired large art quilt forms and how simple ideas can inspire YOU in this hands-on, fun workshop

You need media attention but aren’t sure where to start. Publicists are expensive and often don’t deliver what they promise. In this info-packed two-hour seminar, media pro Elaine Liner shares her insider tips and secrets for matching your ideas to what media need right now. Learn who the friendliest media are, what they want and how they want it in do-able step-by-step strategies.  Master the media matrix and get positive coverage you don’t have to pay for!

Elaine, longtime arts critic at Dallas Observer (and recipient of too many bad PR pitches), developed her workshop to help those involved in the arts and other creative entrepreneurs.  She’s now taught her methods three times to sold-out audiences at the renowned Edinburgh Fringe in Scotland and to artists and arts groups all over Texas and beyond. Her “grads” have gone on to be featured in The New York Times, The Guardian, American Theatre Magazine, Dramatists mag, TimeOut London and New York and scores of other major publications.
