Irving Art Association sponsors a Meetup group: Open Art Sundays on third Sunday afternoons and Open Art Fridays on the first, second and fourth Fridays. Sessions are free unless stated. Bring your own supplies. (sometimes there will be a small supply fee).
May 21 Open Art Sunday: Making Collage Paper from Tissue Paper & Deli Paper
Supplies required: white tissue paper, deli paper or even rice paper, acrylic paint & medium, brushes (larger brushes or foam brushes or even small foam rollers), paper towels, water container, stamps, apron, and garbage bags for drying racks. Sharon will bring gelli plates and stencils for those who wish to print on deli paper. You can also use white or black gesso in this technique.
May 26 Open Art Friday: Collaging in Your Art Journal or on Canvas.
Supplies required: We’ll use the collage papers that we made on May 21st. Plus bring whatever handmade, found or bought paper you have to create collages in your art journal or on small canvases, boards, etc.
Bring your art journal or small canvas or boards. Acrylic medium, gel or whatever glue you prefer. If you want to incorporate paint, bring your paints, brushes and drawing tools.
Sharon will bring some composition tips for you and samples of her collages to show you. Doors open at 6:30pm.
Note: if your collages have gelli printing on them, you can enter them in the free IAA Printmaking Exhibit to be held July 30- Aug. 25.
