ADULT: MAKE LIKE AN ELF, JOIN DECEMBER WORKSHOPS
with James Thurman
Saturday, Dec 3, 3-6pm
Basic metalworking is easier than you think (and possibly a lot more fun!). In this workshop, students will create a unique metal ornament embellished with their own textures. Hammering, stamping, pressing, and punching, oh my. Just a few of the techniques introduced that students can use to customize their own individual design. By the end of the workshop, students will have at least one finished metal ornament to decorate with and the knowledge (and hopefully enthusiasm) to make more.

This workshop will explore the use of watercolor and mixed media techniques to render and depict a human portrait. Watercolor has unique qualities which allow for flexible applications and dynamic paintings. We will discuss material considerations such as brushes, papers, surfaces, and paints. We will also cover concepts and methods which will open doors for any level of painter, such as a limited palette and the role of preliminary drawings.
