DARLA BOSTICK’S WATERCOLOR CLASSES ON FRIDAYS at 9:30am!
LEARN SOMETHING NEW! (OR LEARN MORE THAN YOU DO NOW)
WHEN: Fridays, 9:30-noon We usually bring lunch and continue painting until 1 or so. This is an ongoing adult class…new students of any level can join anytime!
COST: The pay arrangement is unique– your 6 session card is $150. Each time you come your card is validated. When the card is full you may buy another card and continue with the class. This allows for the times you may miss and you won’t lose money on those days! We begin each day sharing what we have painting since the previous class. I paint demos and work the same assignment as the class but this is not a trace and copy class. The assignment is the same for all but the interpretations are very individual. Beginners are welcome! If you already paint, I will be taking you in new directions. We all begin somewhere and we all progress from that point. Through my lessons there is something for everyone, at any level.
Each week you get a printed sheet for future reference of the lesson, examples, and information. Some of the topics are:
Contour Drawing/Value Study, Smooth transition in shapes/shadows, Complementary Colors, Color Temperature, Texture, White Space, Negative Space Painting, Mood through color and light, Negative Space, Perspective, in Shadows, How to Photo Document Final Piece & Frame, Rhythm and Overlapped Pattern, Landscape in Three Analogous Colors, Cool Subject/Hot colors…Colors You Don’t Expect, Pattern, Contrast, Figure Painting, Neutral Colors and more!
Every week my class email list gets a note of what we plan to do that week and if special materials are required. I do travel quite a bit and I give my class advance notice if I will not be there…they use the studio space without me on those dates.
I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts and have been an art instructor for 35+ years! I regularly paint demonstrations at North Texas area art associations and once a year I teach a workshop/retreat for one week at Ghost Ranch in Abiquiu, NM and once a year I take interested artists (and sometimes non-artists!) abroad for 10-days-2 weeks (Spain, Portugal and this year Ireland). There is also a week here in the US for an art retreat (most usually Branson, MO). I have been teaching at Hobby Lobby for 4 years.
My art has been published in national magazines, books, on television and won many awards in national juried art exhibits. I would love to share my passion for painting with you!
