Bring Oil paint (any brand) – this can be a variety of your favorite colors but be sure to have a good range and lots of white, also cadmium red, cad yellow light, yellow ochre, alizarin crimson, ultramarine blue, raw umber, burnt sienna, and any other colors you may have on hand.
Bring four 8.5 x 11 inch photocopies of your favorite photographic headshots or selfies with good contrast of lights and darks.
Bring: Paper towels – one roll per person provided but please bring more
Bring: Tape – blue or green, 1- 1.5”
Originally from Canada, Texas-based artist Jane Cornish Smith’s nomadic childhood, along with her artist mother, fostered an appreciation for creative expression from a young age. Jane produces paintings and sculptural work with diverse materials and subject matter, but has concentrated in recent years on cold wax and encaustic mediums. She has attended artist residencies at the International School of Painting, Drawing, and Sculpture in Umbria, Italy; Vermont Studio Center; and Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, and earned BFA, MLA, and MFA degrees. An award-winning artist, her work hangs at the University of Texas at Tyler, Brookhaven College, Texas A&M University-Commerce, Museum of Encaustic Art in Santa Fe, Tenby Museum and Art Gallery in Wales, the Cancer Support Community of North Texas, and others. The $100 deposit is non-refundable. In the event of cancellation, after the workshop is paid in full; $275.00 will be refunded if someone from the waiting list is able to attend. I’ll be sending email reminders belfore the due date. Non-payment of the $285 by the due date may result in someone from the waiting list taking the space, so please be on the lookout.
