High School Studio Arts Workshop
Ideal for AP or College Application Portfolio Development

A one-week intensive summer program focused on art foundations, concept building, critical thinking, exploration of multiple 2-D materials and techniques, and general portfolio development.

The Bonny Studio and The O’Keefe Studio are reputable independent teaching studios dedicated to serious art education opportunities. The two studios are located next door to one another at 580 W. Arapaho, Richardson, TX, 75080.

Sunday, June 14th, 1:00 – 4:00pm – Introduction
Monday, June 15th, 4:00 – 8:30pm – Figure Drawing
Tuesday, June 16th, 4:00 – 8:30 – Concept-based Drawing
Wednesday, June 17th, 4:00 – 8:30 – Intro to Encaustic, Mixed Media
Thursday, June 18th, 4:00 – 8:30 – Mixed Media, Monotype
Friday, June 19th, 4:00 – 8:30 – Open Session (work on finishing works)
Saturday, June 20th, 6:00 – 8:00 – Exhibition in the Studio (bring family and friends!)

*For each class that meets from 4-8:30pm students are asked to bring a dinnertime meal or snack… we will take a break at the halfway point each evening to eat and converse.

Cost: $575 (includes materials and supplies)

A $150.00 non-refundable deposit holds your space. Please register asap as spaces will fill up.
 Balance due by May 18th. Cancellation policy: In the event of cancellation, $425 will be refunded if someone from the waiting list is able to attend. No refund for cancellations less than 7 days before the workshop.

Work on a full-figure sketch in clay from the model.

April 28th and May 5th, 1-4pm, same pose both dates

Session 2
May 19th and May 26th, 1-4pm, second pose both dates

Cost: Includes classes, clay and firing of finished sculpture

Looking at the Nasher: An Observation-Based Drawing Class
With instruction by Michael O’Keefe

This 5-session class, ideal for both beginners and practiced drawers, will investigate foundational ideas of the language of drawing. Participants will draw at the Nasher Sculpture Center, using the sculpture, galleries and grounds as the subject of a series of drawings that will investigate ideas of perspective, the figure/ground relationship, volume and contour, reduction, and artistic handwriting. Each session will begin with a powerpoint presentation that will examine the topic for the day, followed by time spent drawing with instruction.

Session 3: Tuesday, April 14, 1-4pm “Figure/Ground / Object/Space”
Session 4: Tuesday, May 12, 1-4pm “Reduction”
Session 5: Tuesday, June 2, 1-4pm “Handwriting”

Cost: Nasher Members $40 per session, Non-Members $45 per session
Cost includes museum admission and instruction. Availability is limited.
