24″ x 24″ Acrylic

The color orange is the primary color on my palette. It is a vibrant and bold color which is evident in many of my pieces including the piece I have submitted. I use many variations of the color my favorite being the dark bright orange which makes my backgrounds and my main subjects come to life. This piece is acrylic on canvas 24″ x 24″ and painted in 2014.

My influences are definitely the artists Wassily Kandinsky and Paul Klee. These artists, especially Kandinsky’s later works are very mathematical, including lots of color and straight lines. Another influence of mine is Joan Miro, who adds my curves and circles to compliment Kandinsky’s work. The combinations of these 3 artists are a wonderful combination and also very challenging.

I am excited at the subject of the challenge. The color orange is such an integral part of my work that a deeper inspection of this color is deserved.
