*To submit work, please visit
*The exhibition is open to all artists over the age of 18 living in Texas. 
*The entry fee is $30 for up to 3 images (includes details of work). 
*All visual media are eligible, including drawing, painting, sculpture, installation and video (artist must supply all required electronic equipment). 
*Artists will be notified via email Wednesday, February 7 by 8pm if the work has been accepted into the exhibition. If you do not receive an email, your work has not been accepted.

The Exhibition

*Work must be exhibition ready (with securely attached D-rings, cleats, etc). Works without hanging hardware will be rejected, not included in the exhibition, and there will be no refund of the entry fee.
*Complex installations will be considered only if the artist is available to install.
*Securely label each work with your name, title of work, media, dimensions, date of execution, and price.You will be asked to fill out a form with this information for our records again on site. 
*The gallery retains a 30% commission on all artwork sold during the exhibition.

The North Texas Printmakers Guild is a resource and network of professional artists,vendor,collectors, and dealers based in the North Texas Region who strive to increase exposure for the printarts through collaborations, discourse, gallery shows, hands on educational demonstrations and guild driven exchanges.

She studied painting for four years at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, received her Bachelors of Fine Arts from Texas Woman’s University and her Master’s of Fine Arts at the School of Visual Arts / University of North Texas.

AVAA 37th Regional Juried Art Exhibit entries due Feb. 4

Arlington Visual Art Association (AVAA) will hold the 37th Annual Regional Juried Art Exhibit February 8 – March 23 2013 at the Bob Duncan Center, located at 2800 South Center Street Arlington, Texas.

Our committee is busy going through past records to identify our existing TXN Signature painters. Signature status is extended to artists who have had their artwork on exhibit in five of our 27 shows to date. The TXN signature award allows signature designees the privilege of using the TXN acronym in their resumes and paintings along with a live link from website. This privilege is cumulative and retroactive. All Signature designees will receive recognition at the Awards ceremony April 21, 2013.

If you know anyone who is interested in submitting artwork into this award competition, please contact me and we can send out the prospectus via mail or email. This competition with more than $8,400 in prize money is still the best kept secret in Texas!

Jill Pankey, 2013 Juror

We are proud to announce Jill Pankey as our juror for the 28th Texas & Neighbors Regional Art Competition.
Jill Pankey is currently a Senior Lecturer at Texas State University – San Marcos. During the past twenty years, Jill established herself as an artist in Austin, San Antonio and in South Texas, particularly in the Coastal Bend area. Jill Pankey holds a Masters of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. While at Corpus she concentrated her efforts in painting, drawing, watercolor, pencil, pen & ink and pastels. In 2002, Jill completed a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Texas-San Antonio. She has also received meritorious awards from state and local art organizations for her art works. Her works of art have been inspired by figurative photographers such as Lois Greenfield and Howard Schatz and painters such as Robert Heindel, Jenny Saville, Xenia Housner and Paul Wright.

The Texas Biennial was founded in 2005 to provide an exhibition opportunity open to all artists living and working in the state. The Texas Biennial will take place September 5 – November 9, 2013 with a range of exhibitions and other programming in Austin, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio and Marfa. The curated open call survey exhibition that is the central feature of the project will be presented at Blue Star Contemporary Art Center in San Antonio, with selected performances during the run of the exhibition at CentralTrak–The Artist Residency of the University of Texas at Dallas. A special commissioned Biennial artist project will be presented by Ballroom Marfa. In celebration  of  the  Biennial’s  5th  anniversary,  Lawndale Art Center in Houston and Big Medium in Austin will also host exhibitions of current work by selected past Biennial artists, August 23 – September 28, 2013. Additional programming will be announced as details become available.

ImPRESS entries due Dec. 17

imPRESSis a juried exhibit seeking impressions from local and regional printmakers working with monotypes, lithographs, etchings, woodcuts, linocuts, engravings, and screenprints. The complexity of the process and/or composition, as well as the conceptual idea grounding the work will be taken into consideration. 

The exhibit will run from Jan 7-31, 2013.

Hand delivery of accepted entries AND signed release form will be Friday, Jan 4 between 9AM-5PM and Saturday, Jan 5 between 1-4PM. NO LATE ENTRIES ACCEPTED. IF ENTRIES are NOT ready-to-hang, they may be dismissed from the show. Frisco Arts reserves the right to defer entries deemed inappropriate for a public audience.

Fees: non-refundable $25 entry fee per artist; student rate is $15 (good for up to 10 pieces).

Oil Painters of America call for entries

Oil Painters of America would like to extend an invitation to answer our Call for Entry to the members of Art News DFW.

Oil Painters of America will hold its Twenty-second Annual National Exhibition of Representational Oil Paintings, May 18 through June 17, 2013 at InSight Gallery in Fredericksburg, Texas

Approximately 30 awards will be given with a total value estimated in excess of $75,000, including a $25,000 Best of Show. Juror of Awards is renowned artist Sherrie McGraw OPAM. A full-color catalog will be available. 

Deadline for mailed-in slide submissions is January 4, 2013. Deadline for on-line submissions is January 25, 2013. 

To enter, artists must reside in the U.S., Canada or Mexico and be a current member of OPA at an annual fee of $60.

Call to Artists from the Woodlands – deadline Dec. 7

Texas Visual Artists!

The Woodlands High School of The Woodlands, Texas, is glad to announce that our applications are now open! We are a student-run committee, looking to purchase Texas juried artists’ work, to add to our student-chosen and student-purchased professional art collection. The top twenty pieces will be voted on by the student body, and the top choices will be purchased and added to The Woodlands High School. The application deadline is December 7th, 2012, and we encourage artists to submit work they would be willing to sell. 

Requirements include:

‣ Artwork is limited to drawings, paintings, mixed media, printmaking, photography, and digital media.

‣ Artwork must be able to be hung with appropriate hardware.

‣ Must be a current resident of Texas, and a juried artist willing to sell.

Since 1993, Jose Vargas has organized the El Corazón art exhibition in Dallas. This popular exhibition, which has become a beloved annual tradition at the Bath House, gives artists an opportunity to create various artistic interpretations of the human heart. This passionate and eclectic exhibition features diverse works of art inspired by the heart (El Corazón), an important symbol in Mexican and Latin American art, and a significant theme in western culture.

Latino Arts Fest entries due Oct. 27

Eligibility: Open to all artists within 100 mile radius of Dallas – Fort Worth area. Must be 17 years or older. All mediums welcome, with the exception of video. No size restrictions. Art submitted must have had to be created within last 2 years and not granted awards in other competitions.
Prizes: $1,000 for 1st Place, $500 for 2nd Place, and $250 for 3rd Place. There will also be a Popular Vote Prize with a $500 award.
Submission Guidelines: $10 for 2 images, with minimum of 2 images. All images additional images are $5 extra per image. Images must be submitted with title, size, medium, and date information to:

DeSoto Member’s Only Art Show Call for Entries


The Member’s Only Art Show is fast approaching – in fact it kicks off on November 28 with all artwork due.  The show will be on exhibit from December 3, 2012 through December 28, 2012.  The artwork must be picked up from the show on January 2, 2013.

The Awards for the Member’s Only Art Show will be made on  December 6, 2012 at 6:30PM at the annual Christmas Party/dinner/silent Auction.  This wll be held in the Bluebonnet Room of the DeSoto City Center.  The dinner is a covered dish affair.

The silent auction is a fund raiser to help pay for art shows and other activities.  Please contribute your artwork, art supplies, art materials or other valuable goods for the auction.  (no white elephant stuff)

Exhibit Opportunity for TAC Members: All-In TAC Show

Ah, brainstorming! A co-worker had a great idea about our empty galleries this month: Any Texas Artists Coalition member may enter up to 2 works for a $20 fee. All work will be hung. No jury, no worries. We have both the Front and the Back Galleries, so plenty of room for everyone, so there are no size limitations. The All-In TAC Show will open with a reception on November 9, 6 – 9PM. You must be a current, paid-up member of the TAC to participate, but you can renew or join on the spot. Bring your work in to the Fort Worth Community Arts Center on November 1st or 2nd between 8:30AM and 7:30PM. Let’s see some new stuff; let’s see some old stuff you’ve never put out there.  Questions? Collage – a technique of art production where the artwork is made from an assemblage of different materials to make a new whole.

Printmaking – a process of creating artwork by various means of printing on paper or other surfaces.

Assemblage – a process of making artistic compositions by putting together found objects.

Artists are invited to submit up to three entries in jpg format at 300 dpi and no longer than 1000 pixels on longest side. All types of collage, printmaking, and assemblage will be considered.

People’s Choice Show call for entries

The third annual People’s Choice Art Exhibit and Sale will be held November 5th through the 11th at the Depot 100 E. Main St. Allen TX, Hosted by Like Minded Friends and the Allen Heritage Guild. Categories are painting, graphite drawings/charcoal, sculpture, photo, pottery and fabric. The show is open to artists at all levels, from student to professional.

As in the past The People’s Choice Art Show is an event where the visitors to the show are the jury. Ribbons will be awarded to the artwork that receives the most votes in each category and a cash award of $300 for the single artwork that receives the most overall votes. Winners will be announced at a grand reception beginning at 7:00 PM Saturday November 10th. Hours of the show will be open 12:00 PM till 6:00 PM Monday through Friday. Saturday 12:00 PM till 11:00 PM. Sunday 12:00 PM till 6:00 PM.

Show info:

  • Art will be hung or displayed by Like Minded Friends.
  • Hanging art will be limited to more than will fit tastefully within four square feet.
  • Hanging art work must be framed or gallery wrapped with wire hangers attached (no saw hooks).
  • Pottery, Assemblages, and Sculpture will be displayed on tables and risers.
  • Each piece of art must be titled, medium stated, with price or NFS.
  • Artwork will be received for display Thursday and Friday, November 1st and 2nd from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
  • After show pick up of art work will be 3:00 PM till 9:00 PM Monday and Tuesday November 12th and 13th.

Night Glow Art Show- Call To Artists

Studio Eighty Charity Art Show
One Night Event: Friday, November 9, 2012 6-9pm

Studio Eighty is now accepting entries for a one-night charity group art show, Friday November 9, 2012 Titled “NIGHT GLOW”. 
The connecting theme for this show is black light art, or UV reactive work, with an emphasis on LOCAL Artists. Emerging and established artists welcome. Artists are limited to 3 submissions. Accepted Mediums: painting, drawing, collage, printmaking, photography, sculpture, and installation. BUT THEY MUST GLOW IN SOME WAY UNDER BLACK LIGHT! 2D Pieces are not to exceed 4ft x 4 ft. 3D works should not exceed 100 lbs and not exceed 36″x36″ floor area. Deadline for entries 6PM October 26, 2012. Notification of acceptance by October 29, 2012. Upon acceptance you will receive drop off and pick up information. 80% of sales will go to artist, and it will be silent auction format ( with reserve set by artist) to get people competitively bidding!

2012 9×12 Works on Paper call for entries

The FWCAC announces an open call for entries: 2012 9 x 12 Works on Paper Show December 7-29, 2012 

Artworks on or of paper may be any size, but MUST fit in a 9 x 12 envelope; folded, 3D or multi-part OK.  Unmatted, unframed photography, drawing, painting, printmaking, collage, mixed media, cast or folded paper or digital prints OK (other materials attached-OK). Original artworks only; no reproductions.  Put artist’s name, address, title & date of work and medium on back.  No entry form.  Open to all artists – no age or geographical restrictions.  All artwork will be shown – no jury.

Entry fee is $5US/piece; 6 entries max.  Postmark deadline November 15, 2012.  All artwork for sale for $100US; artist gets 75%.  Unsold works with SASE will be mailed by Jan 31; no metering.
