Cloud Formation | Fragments | More RECENT GEOMETRIC ART BY MICHAEL TICHANSKY
June 4 through July 3
Artist Reception June 8 4:30-6:30
When thinking about my art, the first question should be, where did my content come from?
One body of work is called Cloud Form , based on geometric fantasy Chinese cloud designs developed be- tween the 17th to the 19thcentu- ries. These designs were used in tem- ples, palaces and homes of the aris- tocracy .

Another body of work is called Mechanisms, based on 18th -19th century theories about the nature of a mechanical uni- verse using gears and cogs rather than the modern atomic model of energy.
The last body of work is called Fragments. Using the ele- ments of cloud forms and mechanisms already disassem- bled and reassembled , the constructions invite the viewers interactive participation.
These series are geometric fantasies without narrative meaning; esthetic beauty in material form or in other words, art for itself.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Anna Rose Bain was born and raised in rural Wisconsin. She began drawing from the moment she could pick up a pencil. Inspired by her grandfather, who started painting at the age of 70, she spent her free time as a child learning to draw and paint from nature and from art books.
Anna studied fine art at Hillsdale College in Hillsdale, MI, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree and departmental honors. She was the first in the school’s history to be granted a solo senior art exhibit. She also studied figure painting at the Florence Academy of Art in Italy. Anna now resides in Garland, TX, painting full time out of her home studio. She has won numerous awards for her work, and is an active member of Oil Painters of America and American Women Artists. She paints regularly with the Society of Figurative Arts and is the Texas ambassador for the Portrait Society of America. Anna is represented by Weiler House Fine Art in Fort Worth, TX.

You are invited to bring a piece of your work and be prepared to share (5min) why you are passionate about art! Enjoy music and refreshments! Mix, mingle, and have a good time getting to know your fellow artists!
This new home would not be possible without the work of all the men and women you have seen at exhibits and demos, classes and workshops both past and present. And your participation in this great organization.
We want to thank Allison Jardine, Katrine Kyhnel, Nuray Fuller, Andrea Davis, Ruth Siddiq, Brandi Cooper, Beverly Therault, Barb Mason, Talley Williams, Gaby Pruitt and countless others that I cannot name, for their tireless effort in keeping the PAA afloat during turbulent times. We thank our new board for working together in obtaining this new space. We will continue to have great workshops and demos that you have always enjoyed. We will hold all our traditional shows like the phenomenal 125 show! our most endearing Members Show that allows all artists to participate, the newly included and my favorite the MULTICULTURAL EXHIBIT that celebrates Plano’s Multicultural, Multifaceted face! We plan to follow the intention of the founding members: to foster an environment where the arts are encouraged and celebrated and Plano is represented as the City of Excellence that it is through appreciation of multiculturalism in ART.

Often, songs of rebellion and vision are responses to wars, from “The Star Spangled Banner” to songs from the Civil War, World Wars I and II, to the Vietnam War, and after.
However, music genres may also reflect rebellion or a visionary spirit: Folk songs, Jazz, Swing, R & B, Rock ‘n Roll, Rock, Hip Hop, Alternative, etc. Performers, musicians, lyricists, and music composers, including film composers like John Williams or Philip Glass, may be rebels or visionaries.
Artists are asked to submit their interpretations of any music or musical artist, with work that reflects the meaning of this theme, in any artistic style, from traditional to contemporary, in its many forms.

Watermedia artist Barbara Millican will give a demonstration on Nonobjective Watercolor at the next Society of Watercolor Artists meeting on Monday, May 20 at 7pm. Directions.
In Barbara’s words…
One of the most enjoyable aspects of being an artist is the association with other like-minded people. We artists learn from each other and being part of a critique group, art society, art class stimulates the creative juices we are blessed with. Very few things compare with the enjoyment I receive when I pick up my brush and dip into my palette of paint.
I was one of the charter members of SWA in 1980 and may be the only active charter member in 2013. We have had meetings/critiques in various locations and have grown in quality and quantity. What a wonderful group! I have served as co-chairman of programs and chairman of the annual national show. These have been some years ago. The national show was held at Tarrant County Junior College.
